Dear Valued Travel Advisor,
On March 30, we sent a communication advising that American Airlines was moving their Value Content, which includes Basic Economy and promotional/sale fares, from EDIFACT to NDC (New Distribution Capabilities) or American-owned channels exclusively, effective April 3. In order to provide access to these fares within our booking platforms, ALG Vacations® and Trisept Solutions have successfully secured an NDC connection via a GDS (Global Distribution System), which allows access to American's best available domestic and international fares.
We are pleased to announce that the Value Content that transitioned to NDC is now bookable in VAX VacationAccess with Apple Vacations, Funjet Vacations, and Travel Impressions. Blue Sky Tours is planned for completion on Tuesday, 5/31. |
Through this tremendous team effort, we are once again able to offer the best available American Airlines domestic and international fares, including: |

Standard Content that remains in the legacy GDS EDIFACT technology, such as Main Cabin and Premium Cabin fares |
How Does This Affect You? |
This will be a seamless experience for our advisors. VAX VacationAccess screens will have the same look and feel as they did previously, with the addition of an NDC Fare Advisory message displayed during the flight selection process. This message will alert you that you have selected an NDC fare and will include direction on where to go for booking modification assistance. |

It is important to note that NDC fares are only exchangeable with other NDC fares (as fare rules permit) and must be done through our contact center. You cannot exchange an NDC fare for an EDIFACT fare. |

If you currently have an EDIFACT fare credit, that credit can only be used toward the purchase of another EDIFACT fare. |

ALG Vacations will continue to build on this new NDC technology as further GDS development is released, including ancillary products such as bags, paid seat assignments, and much more.
